Trump says he will not even consider renaming bases honoring Confederates, despite public outcry

President Donald Trump said Wednesday he would not rename Army bases that honor Confederate leaders, adding that they are “part of a Great American Heritage.”  The secretaries of the Army and of the Pentagon said earlier that they were “open to a bipartisan discussion” on the topic.

Trump's tweets came just as George Floyd’s brother Philonise wrapped up an emotional testimony to members of Congress on police reform, urging them to listen to the calls around the world to "stop the pain."
