Trump is suspending certain visas for foreign workers

The Trump administration said Monday it's suspending some employment-based visas to protect American workers as the economy recovers from the coronavirus pandemic — a move derided by companies who say they need access to skilled labor that they can’t get in the United States.

The suspension, which will stay in place through the end of the year, will not immediately impact workers already in the US. Trump will also extend his April 22 order to temporarily ban green cards for certain groups of people outside the US.

Immigrant advocates and experts believe the administration is using the pandemic to institute extreme measures it has long sought to under the guise of a public health emergency.

30 Rock episodes with blackface are being pulled from streaming services and syndication

NBCUniversal, 30 Rock creator Tina Fey, and executive producer Robert Carlock have requested that four episodes of the series be removed. Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) appeared in blackface in two episodes of the series — Season 3, Episode 2 (“Believe in the Stars”), and Season 5, Episode 10 (“Christmas Attack Zone”). In addition, Season 5's “Live Show (East Coast version)" is also being pulled. Jon Hamm also appeared on the show in blackface during a skit on Season 6’s “Live From Studio 6H,” which aired in April 2012.

"I understand now that 'intent' is not a free pass for white people to use these images. I apologize for pain they have caused," Fey said in a statement.

NASCAR

A noose was found in the stall of NASCAR's Bubba Wallace

It was found Sunday in his Talladega Superspeedway garage stall. Wallace, the only full-time Black driver on NASCAR's top circuit, previously successfully led the efforts to ban the Confederate flag from races.

"Today’s despicable act of racism and hatred leaves me incredibly saddened and serves as a painful reminder of how much further we have to go as a society and how persistent we must be in the fight against racism," said Wallace, a 26-year-old from Alabama.

NASCAR officials said they would investigate.
