Good morning Voornaam,

It's not the sunny weekend we were hoping for yet - here in Edinburgh at least - but fingers crossed things will improve later.

In the meantime, grab your morning cup of coffee and have a look at the raft of stories we have for you today.

Trump tariffs

It's the subject everyone has been talking about - US president Donald Trump's crippling tariffs on countries worldwide, including the UK, which yesterday sent stock markets tumbling. Here, we investigate the impact the move is already having on Scottish firms.

Social care black hole

The social care sector in Scotland is also facing major financial woes, due to a £560 million black hole in its finances. Our deputy politics editor, David Bol, reports on fears of a "total meltdown", with health secretary Neil Gray having accused of having “pushed vital local services to the brink” by “chronic underfunding and a lack of leadership”.

Cruise ship boost

One Scottish city is bracing itself for more than a tenfold increase in cruise ship passengers this summer. A £420 million port expansion has allowed for a surge in cruise business, with 64 cruise ships due this year - up from 22 that anchored in the city in 2022.

And finally...

On a more upbeat note, we have the heartwarming tale of Luna the cat, who was found in Inverness after escaping his hometown of Darlington last year - and has now been reunited with her owner.

Meanwhile, the work of renowned female surgeons in Scotland is to be celebrated with the unveiling of a new painting aimed at addressing gender imbalance.

Whatever you're up to, have a great weekend.
