A Message From the Editor

Good morning. As President Donald Trump wreaks havoc at home and abroad, lawyers in Hong Kong who had seen a glimmer of hope in the markets have now had those hopes dashed as the U.S.-China trade war intensifies, Asia Editor Jessica Seah writes in The Asia Legal Briefing. Also, we're looking at the issues likely to arise within law firms now that Trump has obtained $940 million in "free legal services" from nine members of Big Law. Meanwhile, London and Singapore are the world's preferred international arbitration venues. And a surge in private credit complexity has prompted law firms to take steps to ensure they have the people and skills needed to meet demand.
