US job openings dropped to 10.3 million in October from 10.7 million in September, according to a Labor Department report that the Federal Reserve is closely watching to gauge how its inflation-fighting policies are performing. "The labor market is cooling (what the Fed wants) but it is far from cold," said Jennifer Lee, an economist at BMO Capital Markets.

Employers can help reduce staff members' financial stress and support their peace of mind by offering financial wellness education and resources through the workplace. A survey report from TalentLMS found that retirement planning, investment programs and emergency savings topped the list of offerings in which respondents were interested, with 78% saying employer-based financial wellness support was important to them, and 61% saying they were more likely to stay in their current positions if such resources were available.

Anyone else need a boost of energy today? Then try one of the resilience practices in today’s Leadership & Development story from Entrepreneur. I did the Legs up the Wall one. It worked! I looked ridiculous. (The roommate walked in while I was laying on the ground. “OK,” he muttered as he walked away shaking his head.) But when I got up off the ground, I did feel different. I’m going to give it another try later this afternoon.

If you do it, be sure to put your timer on, put your phone away and close your eyes. I took a couple Slack messages while I was in the position and that defeats the purpose. Let yourself relax. Put music on if it helps. I had my Christmas candles going.

This time of year saps energy. I know I’m feeling it. Burnout is coming in hard and fast. I know I have to take care of myself or risk getting sick. This Legs up the Wall exercise will be a nice way to break up the workday and rejuvenate myself.

Let me know
if you try one of these, or if you have another practice you use to stay energized through the holidays. And if you enjoy this brief, tell others so they can benefit also.
