CofC closes School of Professional Studies

College of Charleston President Andrew Hsu made the decision to recommend closure of the program, saying, “The SPS has not generated the sustained revenue and enrollment growth we desired, and the college can no longer justify continued investment in the stand-alone structure of the school.”

Airport lounge at CHS set to reopen Wednesday

The Club CHS at Charleston International Airport is set to reopen to passengers on Wednesday. The Club CHS, which opened a year ago this month, has implemented changes including menu alterations, social distancing, sanitizing stations and the use of face masks. Initial operating hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. The Club CHS, a 3,000-square-foot shared-use lounge, offers customers areas to relax, work, dine or freshen up.

Bi-Lo parent company reverses course, will require masks

The new requirement will begin July 27 and follows moves by other retailers to require masks. The announcement comes a day after the company confirmed that stores weren’t requiring face coverings to avoid “undue friction” between customers and staff members.

On the Menu

The 5th Street Group’s newest restaurant, Tempest, is scheduled to open in August at 32-C N. Market St. in downtown Charleston. The menu will include South Atlantic seafood cooked over charcoal.
