South Carolina farmers can now apply to grow hemp for the 2021 growing season through Feb. 28. Applicants must apply online, show proof of residency and attend an orientation. In 2020, South Carolina received 350 applications for prospective hemp growers, which must undergo an annual criminal background check.
Organizations interested in hosting an AmeriCorps VISTA member in 2021 can attend a virtual information session from 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday on Zoom. The city of Charleston is presenting the AmeriCorps VISTA information session for those organizations interested in hosting a service member this year. The session will provide an overview of the program, regulations and site requirements. Email Mindy Sturm at sturmm@charleston-sc.gov to register for the virtual information session. Registered participants will receive a Zoom link to attend the meeting. Application deadline for the program is Jan. 22.
Dashi’s food truck will now be permanently stationed at Ghost Monkey Brewery in Mount Pleasant five days a week. Hours of operations are 4-8 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, and 1-8 p.m. on the weekends.
