McMaster to budget $10M for medical district flooding

Gov. Henry McMaster plans to include $10 million for flood mitigation in Charleston’s medical district in next year’s budget proposal. The funding would pay for the city to connect the district to its deep tunnel drainage system. The deep tunnel extension to the medical district was initially left off of plans 10 years ago.

Hospitality employees to be trained to spot human trafficking

Members of the S.C. Restaurant and Lodging Association and their employees will receive training on how to spot human trafficking and how to address it. The association will work with the state attorney general’s office.

Comcast installs fiber optic network across Lowcountry

Comcast Business has completed a 122-mile fiber optic network across the Charleston region, which will deliver internet speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second. The network can also be used by businesses that need a redundant or second network to ensure business continuity during adverse weather.
