A deal has been agreed for National Grid to acquire Western Power Distribution, an electricity distribution business which serves approximately 7.9 million customers and employs more than 6,500 staff, for an equity value of £7.8bn. National Grid has also agreed to sell a US-based electricity business provider and announced plans to sell a majority stake in National Grid Gas.
