Here’s what I’m doing that’s made all the difference, even creating optimism:
- When divisive issues arise, I remind myself that everyone ultimately wants the same thing: happiness for friends, family, and self.
- I'm helping others (always the best therapy) whose lives have been affected by suicide, through giving away my “Dead People” book to those who can’t afford it.
- When organizations I align with - political or charitable - ask for help, I send money. I’d always given to charities, a little, but never to politics. Now I give to both, more generously than before.
- I’m now actively looking for ways to play and have more fun. Like my brother Andy says, “I have a 'serious' problem. I take things too seriously!” Did you know half of working Americans don’t take all of their average 10 paid days off per year?!
My 30 day working-vacation begins this weekend! Progress!
