Wild how much we learn about ourselves from those we most love.
Some lessons are not so easy, and others are not so expected. Just last week I was tucking my 9-year-old into bed and I impulsively asked, “Did you know that YOU are a dream come true?”
Instantly and casually, without even looking at me, she replied, “Of course I am.”
I was too surprised to ask her anything else so I just smiled and thought to myself, “Oh, if we could all think this way, or at least if I could…”
A few nights later, still thinking of her answer, I asked, “Whose dream come true are you?”
She knocked me off balance again, “My own!” As if everyone knew this about themselves.
I guess this student (me!) was ready for a new teacher (her!).
