Do you ever worry about being judged by others? Seen as different? Being misunderstood? I have for most of my life.
When I became a first-time dad in my 50’s, I was both overjoyed and scared.
My #1 concern was being seen as “too old,” by anyone and everyone, but especially my daughter! “What will she think of her ‘old man’? Will it be awkward? Weird? Embarrassing?!”
Well, it’s been about 10 years now and none of those fears ever materialized.
To the contrary, it’s been the most thrilling, rewarding, fun friend-and-family-filled time of my life… and we’re just getting warmed up.
There’s still a lot of territory ahead, but there would be under any circumstances. And with new lessons learned, I know I’ll maximize the joy of the journey when I remain true to myself and family, unconcerned with what others may think. 💗
