As I put the finishing touches on my forthcoming book to my daughter, A Beginner’s Guide to the Universe, I continue having new revelations concerning our bond that may have meaning to you.
Time spent with a toddler is so precious. They’re fast growing little humans who say the funniest, most endearing things! Time with my daughter seems so fleeting, to such a degree it often feels like water pouring through my fingers... a sacred, holy, loving water... but gone in the instant I try to scoop it up. Nothing I do will allow me to hold onto those moments as long as I'd like.
Almost feeling blue, I suddenly saw the obvious: this "stream of water" is the current of life itself, and it’ll never stop coming to me, or you, unless we try to hold onto it! Just as it pours through our fingers, new waters, equally sacred, arrive. Holding it only fails and disrupts the flow.
So this month I’m learning to enjoy the flow... while casually treasuring the past and looking forward to whatever’s next.
