In recent years, I’ve heard more and more Christians talk about “deconstructing.” Sometimes deconstruction is a necessary, even healthy, process. Perhaps someone has grown up in a legalistic environment and they need to reexamine the faith they’ve inherited to determine what’s biblical and what’s merely cultural baggage. Other times, though, deconstruction can give way to cynicism and end with someone walking away from the faith entirely.
What makes the difference? It often comes down to whether they keep talking to God or not. It’s a topic I explore in this article where I encourage people to “Keep Complaining to God. Just Don’t Ignore Him.”
