Jieun Kim left South Korea for Los Angeles in 2012. Five years later, another Jieun Kim arrived in Evanston, Illinois. And in 2018, they received the same Social Security number.

What followed has been a confusing litany of banking and credit card problems. Five years later, they finally made contact but say the Social Security Administration has either been unable, or unwilling, to rectify its mistake.
