Two years after George Floyd's murder, changing the Minneapolis police may be up to courts
Wednesday marks two years since a police officer killed George Floyd on a Minneapolis street corner, setting off global racial justice protests. Investigations by state and federal agencies may lead to court oversight of the Minneapolis Police Department.
 
A gunman killed at least 19 children and 2 adults at a Texas elementary school

NPR reports: A reported 21 people were killed in an attack by a lone gunman at an elementary school in the small town of Uvalde, Texas. At least 19 students and two adults at were among the casualties.

What else we're watching:
Minneopa State Park sees record 16 wild bison calves this spring. The wild bison herd at one of Minnesota's most popular state parks is booming this spring. The herd at Minneopa State Park near Mankato includes what park officials believe are 16 new calves, the most the program has recorded since the animals were reintroduced to the area in 2015.

Number of human-biting mosquitos in Twin Cities is low - for now. After trapping on May 16, the district found a lot of mosquito larvae in ponds and wetlands, but few adult mosquitoes. A map of the seven-country metro showed each trap captured less than 50 human-biting mosquitoes. Each trap is able to capture more than 1,000.

Biden to sign policing order on Floyd anniversary . President Joe Biden plans to sign an executive order on policing today, the second anniversary of George Floyd's death, according to three people familiar with the matter.
