Uber, Lyft to update wage policies to fight Calif. employment bill
Uber and Lyft say they are willing to update wage policies for drivers in California to prevent legislation aimed at expanding who qualifies as employees in a gig environment. The legislation -- on its way to the state Senate -- was designed to clarify the state Supreme Court's Dynamex decision, which set stricter standards for when individuals can be classified as contractors instead of employees.

Data: More employers plan to hire
A ManpowerGroup survey projects that an increasing percentage of employers plan to add staff next quarter amid a market of low unemployment and an excess of job openings. A separate CompTIA survey found the unemployment rate for technology was 1.3% in May, with "the very real prospect of tech worker shortages affecting industry growth," says Tim Herbert of CompTIA.
