Unconditional Basic Income Europe
SPECIAL NEWSLETTER – May 2018

What the new EU data protection rules mean to us (and you)

Dear UBIE Newsletter recipient,

You subscribed to the Universal Basic Income newsletter and we’d like to keep sending it to you, after all, staying in touch with You is important to Us!

But some things are changing. So, in line with new EU data protection rules (GDPR) coming into effect across the EU on 25th May, we've updated our Privacy Policy. This update is designed to help you more easily understand what information we collect, if any, and why.

We have always placed great importance on acting in an ethical manner across every area of our interaction with you and looking after our newsletter subscribers and their information is no exception. The updates to our Privacy Policy provide you with more detail on what information we collect, what we do with that information, and your rights.

When you originally expressed your wish to receive the UBIE newsletter using our online sign-up form (and confirmed it via email), we asked you to provide us with your email address (on some of the older forms we also asked for your name and country of residence). We use this information for the sole purpose of sending you updates via our Newsletter.

To circulate our newsletter, we use an online tool called “Mailchimp”, which is a product of the Rocket Science Group (675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, US). As such your data is stored and handled under the terms of the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework in accordance with Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy.

Beyond that, we do not disclose your personal data to any third parties. Within UBIE just a very small group - selected members of the Communication Team - has access to your data and we have asked all of them to sign our Data Confidentiality Agreement.

If, having read them, you not agree with our updated terms, or should you wish to end your subscription for any other reason, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the footer section of any newsletter you receive from us.

If you have any further questions about the way we handle your personal data, please write to contact@ubie.org.

Thank you for being a part of the Unconditional Basic Income Europe (UBIE) community.

Warm regards,

Dániel Fehér,
UBIE Chair

Support UBIE now!

UBIE relies entirely on volunteers, but we need to pay for our website, newsletter and other forms of communication. We also need to subsidise the travel of activists to our meetings and other events, to make sure we represent UBI movements throughout Europe. Please give what you can!
