| | UK REACH authorisation decisions The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has published decisions on 9 applications for authorisation for the time-limited use of substances of very high concern (SVHC) under UK REACH. Applications for authorisation received by HSE, and the opinions on these, are included in the HSE database of applications granted and in progress. Decisions made by the Defra Secretary of State are published on GOV.UK.  Authorisation has been granted to: TCL Manufacturing Ltd for the industrial use of chromium trioxide for functional chrome plating with decorative character for sanitary applications Custom Moulded Polyurethane Ltd for the industrial use of 2,2'-dichloro-4,4'-methylenedianiline (MOCA) as a curing agent/chain extender in hot cast polyurethane elastomer production Becton, Dickinson UK Ltd for the use of an imported polymer containing UV-328 as an additive for UV stabilisation in the manufacture of a mechanical separator component used in Barricor⢠blood collection tubes Roche Diagnostics Ltd for the use of 4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phenol, ethoxylated (4-tert-OPnEO) and 4-nonylphenol, branched and linear, ethoxylated (4-NPnEO) in 10 in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays used for example in Clinical Chemistry and Drug Monitoring products Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Products GmbH for the use of 4-tert-OPnEO in in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) kit reagents on diagnostic analyser systems used in controlled settings by professional users such as hospitals and pharmacies (Use 1) and for the use of 4-tert-OPnEO as a cleaning surfactant in IVD wash solutions on diagnostic analyser systems to ensure their continued accuracy in controlled settings by professional users such as hospitals and pharmacies (Use 2) Abbott Laboratories Ltd for the professional use of 4-tert-OPnEO as a surfactant, in wash buffer components used in conjunction with fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) test kits and/or their laboratory developed test (LDT) equivalents, in clinical diagnostic use for medical analysis of human tissue and blood samples to identify characteristic genetic abnormalities related to specific disease conditions Members of the CrO34UK Group (a group of four companies who applied to use chromium trioxide): The CrO34UK Group for the industrial use of chromium trioxide in the etch pre-treatment step of functional chromium plating with decorative character for automotive, sanitary, heating and other applications (Use 1 â Borough Ltd & Quality Plated Products Ltd) and the industrial use of chromium trioxide for functional chromium plating with decorative character for automotive, sanitary, heating and other applications (Use 2 - Aalberts Integrated Piping Systems Ltd, Borough Ltd, Quality Plated Products Ltd & Samuel Heath and Sons plc.)
