NATO SUMMIT

This week, the leaders of NATO member countries are gathering in Vilnius, Lithuania, for the alliance’s annual summit. Rarely are there as many hotly debated, unresolved questions facing the security organization. Will Sweden join, as Finland has—or will Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan continue to block Stockholm’s entry? Should Ukraine be admitted—and if so, when? As Russia grows more isolated from the West, how should the alliance prepare for long-term hostility with Moscow? And what role should NATO play in countering China’s growing military and economic power?

These questions fuel the debates taking place in the pages of Foreign Affairs. Here, we’ve compiled some of the best analysis of NATO and the role it will play in global security in the years to come. Start reading below.
