Unemployment claims drop in S.C. for first time in 5 weeks

For the week ending April 18, 73,116 people filed initial unemployment claims, according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. That represents a decrease of 14,570 from the previous week.

MUSC performs plasma transfusion to treat COVID-19 patient

Physicians at the Medical University of South Carolina have infused the first COVID-19 patient in the Lowcountry with convalescent plasma. Convalescent plasma is taken from people who have recovered from a disease and have antibodies.

Bon Secours offers plasma treament for COVID-19

The Bon Secours St. Francis Health System has joined ranks with Prisma Health in offering investigative COVID-19 treatment using plasma from recovered patients. The hospital system will use the Expanded Access Program for Convalescent Plasma to aid patients.
