Unemployment drops to 4.2% in October in S.C.

The October rate dropped from 5.2% in September. The estimated number of South Carolinians working increased by 27,830 people from September to October, according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce.

Richland Library seeking next entrepreneur-in-residence

The entrepreneurial leadership program is accepting applications for its next residency, to run from January to April 2021. The entrepreneur-in-residence will hold one-on-one virtual mentoring sessions and help develop programming. 

S.C. Ports October volumes within 1% of 2019 totals

The South Carolina Port Authority has had a strong month as container, vehicle and inland ports volumes continue to recover and the first cargo-handling equipment arrives at the Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Terminal.

Carnival Cruise postpones Charleston tours  

As the company continues to build and implement a viable plan to resume voyages, Carnival Cruise Line has postponed its embarkations out of Charleston through Feb. 28. Embarkations from Carnival's Florida ports have been postponed until Jan. 31.
