Unemployment insurance tax rates not increasing for many

The S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce said that, thanks to pandemic relief and the rebuilding of the state’s Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund, rates for 86.3% of employers will remain unchanged or decrease for 2021. 

S.C. unemployment claims top 3,600 in most recent week

The state saw 3,627 initial claims filed for the week ending Nov. 7, an increase of 229 from the previous week. Nationally, more than 700,000 claims were filed, and in Richland County, 319 initial claims were filed.

Food Lion takes step in Bi-Lo stores purchase

Food Lion takes another step in the purchase of 62 Bi-Lo and Harveys Supermarket stores, 38 of which are in South Carolina. The transaction is related to the purchase of a distribution center in Mauldin.
