Unemployment soars to 12.1% in S.C. in April

The pandemic-driven numbers represent both the state’s highest-ever unemployment rate and its largest month-to-month increase on record, according to DEW. The estimated number of residents working dropped by 238,913 from March.

S.C. COVID-19 patients receive experimental drug

DHEC distributed an initial supply of remdesivir to 59 patients, the agency said, and has received more doses from the U.S. government. The drug was shown during a clinical trial to shorten recovery time in some COVID-19 patients.
