Dear Supporter, The news coming out of Türkiye and Syria following two massive earthquakes is devastating. More than 7,800 people* are dead, with countless more injured or missing. Damaged roads and icy conditions are hampering search and rescue efforts.
In Türkiye, UNHCR is working with authorities and other UN agencies to provide urgent aid, such as tents, mattresses, and kitchen sets. Meanwhile, in Syria, we are delivering survival kits with thermal blankets, tarpaulins and sleeping mats to the worst-affected areas, including Aleppo and Homs.

The people of Syria have endured almost 12 years of war and millions of them are displaced inside the country. Many families were living in tents or partially destroyed buildings that offered little protection from the quakes. They are now in the depths of winter and have absolutely nothing left.
