Northern Ireland’s chief scientific adviser Professor Ian Young has warned that as many as one in 40 people may have coronavirus in some parts of the region.

Dr Patrick Roach, general secretary of the NASUWT, says that widespread vaccination of teachers would be the best means of getting children back into the classroom. It feels like a timely intervention just as schools here have been closed until at least half term, and it will be welcomed by parents across Northern Ireland, who are in despair at the prospect of home-schooling. Dr Roach spoke out amidst a high-profile intervention from former world champion boxer Carl Frampton.
