SAS posts strong peak quarter results despite operational disruptions

SAS CEO Rickard Gustafson apologized for the airline’s poor operational performance during the 2018 summer season, casting a shadow over a record fiscal third-quarter performance which saw the airline climb to a SEK1.55 billion ($169 million) net profit.

Etihad incident over Australia led to 777 production line inspections

A new report released by the Australian Transport Safety Board (ATSB) on an inflight diversion of an Etihad Airways Boeing 777-300ER on Oct. 14, 2017 caused by chafing and arcing of incorrectly installed wire bundles led Boeing to subsequently introduce new production-line inspections and issue maintenance recommendations to operators.
