Voornaam, It's 5:00 PM on May 21st in beautiful blue Oregon, and Primary Election 2024 will come to a close at 8:00pm. Now that the last ballots are coming in, some are simply ready to celebrate, win or lose. Still others, after months of campaigning, are just ready to hit the couch and watch the election results come in on the evening news! As Chair of Oregon's Democratic Party, my thoughts are on the days ahead as we unite together after some hard-fought primary contests that often happen in the heat of political debate. Now is the time, however, to unite together against some very serious threats to dismantling our democracy. Still, we can be hopeful. We can also be thankful. Thankful for every 2024 Democratic primary candidate for a job well done! Thankful for the thousands of Oregonians who participated in our democracy by supporting candidates as volunteers or staff members. It is because of all of them that we have a real sense of the solidarity we need to work forward together in UNITY of purpose. In the transition from primary season to General Election 2024, it's not about one individual candidate or another, or one House or Senate race or the other, or even one congressional district or the other, but all of us interwoven together in UNITY of purpose and excellence in defeating the Republican opposition. Proud Oregonians, let's coalesce together now and into the fall, singularly UNITED in our values, beliefs and efforts to win Democratic victories throughout the state, and to return the Democratic ticket back to the White House! WE MUST UNITE TO WIN BIG IN 2024! |
