Dear Friend,
Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!
Unleashing Our Natural Resources
Watch my opening statement here.
This week, the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs held a hearing on national security and foreign policy tools. During my opening remarks, I highlighted how the United States can and should leverage our oil and natural gas resources to aid European allies and champion American economic opportunity and energy independence.

Making A Difference
Every day, millions of Americans battling rare diseases inspire us with their courage and hope. Many lack the support they need to raise awareness and find cures.
I cosponsored a bipartisan resolution with Senators John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) designating February 28th as Rare Disease Day. As I serve in the Senate, I will continue to support the research and solutions that make a difference in the lives of American patients.

Getting To Work
American workers are the engines of job creation and opportunity in our economy. Ensuring hard working Americans have the freedom to choose what’s best for them, their careers, and their families is vital to helping them live out their version of the American dream.
Unfortunately, many employees are forced to choose between joining a big labor union or losing their job. I joined Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) in reintroducing the National Right-to-Work Act, which preserves and protects the free choice of individual employees to form, join, or assist labor organizations, or refrain from such activities.

Americans Deserve The Truth
Watch my interview here.
Earlier this week, I joined Fox & Friends on Fox News to discuss the importance of religious liberty in America. I believe we must protect our constitutional right to freedom of expression that is deeply woven into the fabric of our nation.
During my interview, I also focused on the Biden administration’s lack of transparency about the origins of COVID-19. Americans deserve the truth about the devastating pandemic, so we can take steps to prevent another outbreak of this magnitude. I am committed to holding the White House accountable for their failure to tell the whole story.

Fostering Energy Independence
As energy prices have risen, Russia continues to undermine peace and security by wielding its energy exports as a weapon for political coercion. I have worked to unleash America’s abundant natural resources to strengthen our national security and make us more energy independent.
This week, I joined John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) in re-introducing legislation to enhance the energy security of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) members. The ESCAPE Act advances our security interests and helps our allies break free from the energy supply of aggressors like Russia.

#SCSweetTea, Southern Food, and Service Dogs
For #SCSweetTea this week, I am highlighting Chef Danny and Between the Antlers! Our communities are stronger when we rally around one another for support. Thanks to the efforts of Chef Danny and Between the Antlers, more veterans in our community struggling with PTSD can partner with service dogs to help them transition into civilian life. The support and sense of security from service dogs doesn’t just change the lives of our heroes in uniform, it also helps to create safer neighborhoods.
