SUPREME COURT
The New Reproductive Rights Landscape and the Future of SCOTUS

The U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022, the day before the start of the Aspen Ideas Festival. We quickly shifted gears and pulled together a stellar panel: Atlantic writer Jennifer Senior moderated a discussion between legal experts Steve Vladeck and Katie Keith, and writers Jane Coaston and David French. They broke down the court’s decision, explored its far-reaching implications, and reflected on the historical significance of this moment. This is the first episode in this week’s 3-part series on SCOTUS decisions and the future of the court. (Subscribe to Aspen Ideas to Go on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts.)

The Genius of Jazz

How has jazz evolved over time? What makes it so compelling? Hear from two jazz virtuosos as they discuss and perform this musical tradition with Walter Isaacson, professor of history at Tulane University. Wynton Marsalis is the world’s first jazz artist to perform and compose across the full jazz spectrum, from its New Orleans roots to bebop to modern jazz. Jon Batiste is a Grammy-award winning musician and bandleader for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." Together this magical pairing riffs on the familiar melodies and beats that are the backbone of American music.
