‍Today's Inspiration: On our way home from school my kids and I play the ‘highs and lows game.’ We tell each other our high of the day (best part) and our low (something they would change) of the day. My 12-year-old, Karington, told me her high trumped all others. This one brought the ugly tears flowing.

Her story started with, ‘Mommy, I made a teacher cry today.’ I don’t know why my first thought was a negative one. I definitely shouldn’t have doubted her. The rest of her story went like this…

‘There’s a boy in my art class with Tourette’s syndrome that everyone laughs at because he does weird things. Today he fell to the ground – that’s one of the things he does. I looked around and all these kids were laughing at him, so I walked up to him and laid down with him. The class stopped laughing. A substitute teacher (who happened to be the boy’s mom) was walking by the open door and saw me laying there with her son; she had seen everything. She walked into the art room towards me, crying her eyes out, thanked me, and gave me the tightest hug ever! Mommy, this hug was so tight, it was tighter than Aunt Jenna’s hugs! She kept saying what a sweet girl I was and thanked me over and over.’

My voice was replaced by a lump in my throat. Tears flooded my eyes; I squeezed them so I could see the road. I couldn’t respond. How could I find the right words to explain just how very proud I was? She looked at me, saw the ugly tears flowing and knew. I didn’t need words.

There is not a thing my child could do that would make me more proud – nothing! Not honor roll, not unbelievable talent, not being a star athlete, or anything we consider extraordinary. Nothing is better than standing up for what is right and showing compassion and empathy towards others.

If you’re a mother of a child with special needs, I want to assure you there are compassionate people out there who stand up for what is right.

Parents, I urge you to speak with your children about being different. Speak to them about autism, Tourette’s, racism, etc. Share the story of when you were bullied in 3rd grade and how it made you feel. Having taught first grade for 16 years, I know first-hand compassion and empathy are not learned behaviors. They need to be explicitly modeled and taught.

Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another. Listening with the ears of another. And feeling with the heart of another.”

Why Do We Give Away Our Power
When We Have The Unseen Therapist?

"Most of us look OUTSIDE ourselves (e.g. to gurus or books) for advice and wisdom rather seek INSIDE ourselves for the ever-present wisdom of The Unseen Therapist."

Let me suggest that you spend quality time with this video as Anne Ryan and I explore this question in depth. Most of us look OUTSIDE ourselves (e.g. to gurus or books) for advice and wisdom rather seek INSIDE ourselves for the ultimate wisdom of The Unseen Therapist. With diligence, we can learn to LISTEN to the Unseen Therapist's ongoing messages and thus gain TRUST in this immensely valuable resource.

The video tells more.

Amelia's Hurting Hands

Before becoming an OEFT Course Member, Amelia's primary therapy for her clients was Cranial Sacral Therapy. When combined with The Unseen Therapist, however, her clients received profound new levels of release.

Interestingly, Amelia had the unique ability to feel the release in her hands when a client was making progress with Cranial Sacral Therapy. But with the addition of The Unseen Therapist, that release became so much more powerful that her hands began hurting. After some discussion on this, Amelia and I invited The Unseen Therapist (two sessions) to allow her the sensitivity of feeling the release... but without the pain.

Interesting results. Watch the video.

Two Technical Questions From Nayla

Hi Gary,

I’d like to ask about the Unseen Therapist not wanting to interfere with memories if we chose to repress them. Sometimes we have an issue but we don’t know if there are repressed memories related to it. Is it possible to ask the Unseen Therapist to resolve whatever events there are, even the repressed ones?  GC ANSWER: Yes. But better to ask for pointers to what the repressed memories may be (Advanced Lesson #10). That way you can get to more details and aspects.

Another question: in the course, in the section of the non feeling person, I’ll quote you: “You may get clues during this process that progress is being made. Principle among them may be the propensity to change the subject to some other memory. This is evidence that you have helped resolve the original memory and now there is a shift to another one.”

Now my question is, what if jumping to another memory is rather a way to avoid an uncomfortable emotion that started to arise from that specific event we dealt with?  GC ANSWER: Yes. You are right. Great insight. This is why our various methods of being thorough (Advanced Lessons 3, 4, 15 and more) are of such inmportance.

Thank you Gary for your continuous support 🙏🏼

Warmly, Nayla

Barb Addison Shares Her Heavenly Habit

"I evolved into the habit, which has put me very much in continual touch with Unseen Therapist..."

Hi Gary,

I want to share a little practice I have been doing that you may or may not find useful to pass on to others. This is really nothing new and very much like a “Heavenly Habit” or seeing the best in everything. I think of it as seeing everyone through the eyes of Jesus. This started when I had the idea one day of what if I looked at my partner the whole day with the lens that he could do nothing wrong that day. How would that change his day? How would that change my day?

From that, I evolved into the habit, which has put me very much in continual touch with Unseen Therapist, of thanking God throughout the whole day for everything that happens. Basically reframing. For instance, if I stub my toe on a chair, OUCH, thank God I have a chair to run into. If I have a pain, thank God I have feeling at all. Some don't. Or, thank God something important is being pointed out to me. An unexpected bill in the mail – thank God I have an address for them to send it to etc. Cut my finger – thank God for slowing me down enough now before I cut off my hand. Obviously, there are examples that require more creativity to get to the thank God stage, but this practice just puts me in closer communion, more frequently, with Unseen Therapist.
