Up next for University Avenue

BY ADAM DAIGLE | Acadiana business editor

After two attempts by property owners to open a gas station along University Avenue, planning officials with Lafayette Consolidated Government have an idea.

A proposal to extend the University Avenue Overlay District all the way to Congress Street will go before the zoning commission next week.

It won't prohibit gas stations — those are still allowed but require a conditional use permit — but will would encourage development and prohibit businesses that are “contrary to the redevelopment plan” from opening along the corridor.

You can check out my story here.

Have a great day and thanks for reading.
