GALLERY TALK WITH CEDRIC HARRISON

Join us as we commemorate Veterans’ Day and the 3-year anniversary of the Boundless sculpture installation with a special gallery talk in the PNC USCT Park. Cedric Harrison, Founder of WilmingtoNColor and a dedicated historian, will be interviewed by CAM’s cultural curator, Daniel Jones. Together, they will explore Wilmington’s rich history and discuss ongoing efforts to unify and uplift our community.


This gallery talk offers a unique opportunity to learn from Harrison’s wealth of knowledge and experience, making it a meaningful way to celebrate both our veterans and the lasting legacy of Boundless.

KIDS AT CAM: PAJAMA JAM PARTY

Join us for a special edition of Kids@CAM as we collaborate with Pajama Jams this month! Participants are encouraged to come to CAM in their cozy pajamas and bring a pair to donate to the amazing organization Pajama Jams. Donations should be new (never worn) pajamas size 5T to Adult XXL of any gender/design. Participants will embrace printmaking to design their own pajamas.


Kids at CAM is a family-friendly event. Museum staff facilitate art activities for all ages, including parents. Family-friendly tours of the exhibitions are at 11:30 a.m. Families can participate in the activities, the tour, or both during their afternoons at CAM. Learn More

Thomas Sayre: Four Walls


Thomas Sayre: Four Walls features new and never exhibited works by American artist Thomas Sayre (American, b. 1950). Each of the four large-scale pieces installed in Cameron Art Museum’s Hughes Wing engage the belief systems and symbols that underpin the ideals of church, nation, and creation. Made of materials that include tar, smoke, fabric gowns, gunshots, welding material, earth and fire, these works invite visitors to draw close and experience the messiness of making, and by analogy, to bear witness to the ways that life invades, entangles, and tarnishes us. Flying School (Ecole d’aviation)


Welcome the return of Diane Landry’s (Canadian, b. 1958) signature work Flying School (Ecole d’aviation), 2000. Its multi-colored umbrellas, attached to rods at different heights, fold and unfold intermittently, like a person inhaling and exhaling. Motor-driven accordions lie at each of the umbrella bases. Their silhouettes cast by the halogen lighting are projected upward on the ceiling, resembling flowers opening and closing. The magical umbrella accordions are a hybrid of light and sound, infused with elements of sculpture, musical craftsmanship, and electronics.

Close to Home (November 19, 2024 – March 23, 2025) is a celebration of CAM’s collection featuring works by artists with a connection to our state, our region, our home. Join us as we explore images of people and places that evoke the varied spirit of our community. Beloved familiar works are joined by hidden treasures in a showcase of artistic voices; a collective search for the meaning of home. Features work by Josef Albers, Romare Bearden, Mary Cassatt, Diego Camposeco, Elisabeth Chant, Minnie Evans, Maud Gatewood, Claude Howell, Hiroshi Sueyoshi, and others.

MASTERING THE FEATURES FOR PORTRAIT DRAWING AND PAINTING

Refine your skills at rendering the features of the head for portrait drawing and/or painting. We will learn and practice techniques to construct and model a proportioned head, focusing on each feature from various angles.
