Upcoming Events for the Research Community

The coming months will be busy ones for the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) and the research community. Mark your calendar for these events:

• April 28, 1 p.m. ET: Join us for the second webinar in our two-part series, Expanding Translationally Relevant Chemical Space: Insights Into Natural Product Resources, Technologies, and Mechanisms. Registration is open now. Did you miss the first webinar in this series? Watch the video here.
• May 2 and 3: The National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Brain Research Through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative will host the Brain Behavior Quantification Synchronization (BBQS) Sensors Workshop. This is a hybrid virtual/in-person event, and registration is open now.
• May 12: The open session of the meeting of theNational Advisory Council for Complementary and Integrative Health will be livestreamed to the public on NIH VideoCast. The agenda will be posted soon. Registration is not required.
• May 25, noon to 1:15 p.m. ET:Dr. Margaret Kulinski of the University of Washington will present a virtual lecture on her research on promoting positive developmental outcomes and preventing drug use and antisocial behavior through community-based and family-focused intervention. This talk is part of NCCIHs Integrative Medicine Research Lecture Series.
• June 7, 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET: We will hold a Hot Topics Webinar, Launching a Career in Health Disparities ResearchAn NCCIH Perspective. Early-career investigators will join us to discuss their research projects, their career paths, and the challenges of conducting studies in this field. Registration is open now.
• June 12 and 13: The BRAIN Initiative will hold its ninth annual meeting, Open Science, New Tools. This is a hybrid virtual/in-person event, and registration is open now.
• June 14, 2 to 3 p.m. ET: NCCIH will hold a technical assistance webinar for potential applicants for RFA-AT-24-001, Research Network to Promote Multidisciplinary Mechanistic and Translational Studies of Sickle Cell Disease Pain (U24, Clinical Trial Optional). During the webinar, NCCIH program and review staff will present details about this funding opportunity and answer participants questions. Registration is open now.
• June 15, noon to 1:15 p.m. ET: Dr. Tonya M. Palermo of the Seattle Childrens Research Institute will present a virtual lecture on her research on treatment and prevention of pediatric pain. This talk is part of NCCIHs Integrative Medicine Research Lecture Series.
• June 29, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET. The NCCIH-funded force-based manipulation research networks will hold their annual meeting, and a 2-hour open session will be livestreamed to the public. The open session will include discussion of the networks vision and goals and a keynote presentation by Dr. David Ginty of Harvard Medical School. Registration will open soon.
• July 25 and 26: Join us for Understanding and Restoring Whole Joint Health in Pain Management: An NIH HEAL Initiative Workshop. This workshop will examine the current literature on joint pain, focusing on the relationships and interactions among different tissue components of joints.
