Interested in a way to direct students on a custom tour of historical locations anywhere in the world? Stqry, Duke’s interactive geo-located tour application (formerly MyTours), is available at no cost to anyone with a Duke NetID and allows you to quickly and easily create custom virtual tours. Duke’s Office of Information Technology (Media Technologies) is offering a vendor-led overview of the Stqry platform that will provide:

Monday, October 23, 10 - 11:30 am

This workshop is recommended for anyone who has not used Canvas as an instructor before or those who would like a refresher on Canvas. This session will include some of the basic “getting started” and Canvas configuration information. 

Wednesday, October 25, 10 - 11:30 am

This workshop is strongly recommended for all instructors. This session will focus on the core of Canvas – the Modules tool – and how to use it and several other key Canvas tools to best organize your site to support student success. 

Monday, October 30, 10 - 11:30 am

This session will cover assessing student learning in Canvas using quizzes, graded discussions, assignment submissions, and the gradebook. 

Cultivating an Inclusive Teaching and Learning Community through Narrative Change

Wednesday, November 8, 12 - 1 pm

In this interactive session, the Center for Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) will share concrete strategies and tools for cultivating an inclusive teaching and learning community in the classroom with regard to race and racial hierarchies. This intentional approach aligns with the TRHT Framework pillar of Narrative Change and begins before the first day of class, continues throughout the semester, and extends beyond.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have a greater understanding of how to develop and utilize teaching practices and tools that enable all students to feel seen, heard, and understood and to think and act differently concerning the production and circulation of knowledge.
