Focusing On Mental Health

In this pandemic era, faculty and staff members worldwide are struggling to support students who are experiencing mental-health crises. The U.S. Departments of Justice and Education have implored campus leaders to be especially attentive to students who are showing signs of self-harm or suicide, while pandemic- and social-justice-related volatility have introduced new challenges.

Join us on Wednesday, January 12 at 2 p.m. ET for a roundtable discussion that will address campus-based responses to this crisis, emphasizing creative solutions that have proven to be effective.

You will learn:
  • The broader context pre-pandemic about student and faculty mental health.
  • How to support faculty members as they work with students, especially the most vulnerable populations.
  • Strategies for helping faculty members as they face potential burnout while juggling expanding work responsibilities and family.

Panelist:

  • Alexander C. Kafka, senior editor, The Chronicle of Higher Education

Moderator:

  • Sarah Ketchen Lipson, assistant professor, Boston University
