Dear member of the NSC-Community, We hope this message finds you well. Here is an update from the coordination team with the recent developments/decisions/information: Coordination Team (CT) During the NSC-General Assembly (GA) in Grenoble, the renewal of the NSC-CT was opened. After 7 years, Flemming Cassee decided to step down from the Coordination Team. We are grateful for his work and would like to thank Flemming for his engagement and efforts he has put into the NSC! Monique Groenewold (RIVM) volunteered to step in, which was agreed by the GA, hence, we cordially welcome Monique in the NSC CT! For those who were unable to attend the GA a few words to introduce myself. It is an honor for me to become a member of the coordination team of the NSC. As coordinator of the NMBP-13 project Gov4Nano, one of the three Nano Risk Governance projects, I have experienced the strength and exemplary function of the NSC as a research community. In addition, I have many years of experience in the chemical substances and nanomaterials domain in both public and (semi) private organizations, always in the role of translating research into practice for the benefit of the safety of people and the environment. I currently work at RIVM as a policy advisor and coordinator. I’m looking forward to use my experience for future challenges such as SSbD and Advanced materials as a member of the coordination team with specific attention to the connection of research and policy. Name of the Community The decision of the NSC-community was to retain its (well known) name and to add a description of the focus. Thus, it is “EU NanoSafetyCluster (NSC)” and we will work on a proposal for the description to be ready for NSC Steering Group (SG) discussion/approval which will also do justice to the fact that the term Advanced Materials seems to replace Nanomaterials. Structure update Following the decision of the NSC-SG, and some iterations during/after the GA: Working groups: these are the names of the working groups:Education, Training & Communication (former WG-A) Research Output management, FAIRness & Sharing (former WG-F/Data)Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD), Innovation & Regulation (former WG-E and parts from WG-B, WG-G incorporated). We do encourage NSC-members to form a working group on Standardisation and Harmoniziation that can e.g., directly be approached by OECD, ISO and the Malta Initiative.A new task force on the interaction with AMI2030, led by Monique Groenewold, will be installed. Flemming Cassee as co-lead of WG 3 in AMI2030 will be part of this task force and in charge of the interaction and communication with AMI2030. Early Career Researchers (ECRs): they are now presented on the webpage, as subcategory in the “Overview” menu. Their involvement in CT-activities will be pursued. Needless to say that the 5th Young Scientist Forum will be held on 19th-20th of October 2023 (2 days), Anargyrios & Korgialenios School of Spetses, Greece. ECRs but also the wider NSC will soon be informed as the registration deadline is approaching.Sister Projects’ Groups: these groups will enable an easy visibility for the (EC-supported) collaboration between projects that have received funding under the same call-topic (e.g., NMBP-15, NMBP-16, Digital-Emerging-35, Resilience-calls, etc.). Further steps will be discussed within the SG including the initiative to have ambassadors. Communication Monthly updates, the so called “[NSC-Update]”, will be circulated via the (one-and-only-remaining) NSC-community-mailing list. Unfortunately, no transition phase between the old and new mailing list was possible (due to technical limitations). However, no contact has been lost and the information flow will be optimized. Thus --> Every month till the 20th, the contributions that you want to share with the NSC-community will be collected. Hence, please send it to info@nanosafetycluster.eu. A “contribution” is the information, event, news, etc., that you want to share with the NSC community.Between 20th and 27th of each month, the collected information will be sent out to the community via the NSC-community-mailing list. Therefore, the “normal situation” is, that every member of the community receives 12 mails per year (which is considered a reasonable amount). We kindly invite you, to submit the information you want to share with the NSC-community as mentioned in a) - please consider, that each information item will be shared once (unless there is a good reason for a second circulation (e.g., updated content, etc.); specifically, for invitations to events, please consider to send this information early enough, so that the next “NSC-update" shall come before your event is happening. For the first NSC-Update, please send any contributions before June 26th, 11a.m. CEST.We will do our best to continuously update about incoming information via the social media channel of the NSC. LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/7471509/The NSC on LinkedIn is a closed group. Every person that is a member of the group can post there. For doing it, go to the NSC group and write a new message. It is not possible to tag the NSC using a handle. Twitter: https://twitter.com/EUNanoSafety
Please tag the NSC in your tweets if you want to reach out the NSC community: @EUNanoSafety YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@nanosafetycluster5710 If you want to upload a video to the NSC YouTube channel, please send an email to info@nanosafetycluster.eu NanoWeek 2024 After celebrating a great nanoSAFE 2023 & NSC conference in Grenoble, we want to thank the hosts and all contributors for the great efforts you have made to make it a long-term memory for the NSC community! Now, we kindly invite volunteering projects to run the NSC-community event next year to enable the NSC SG to discuss any proposal. |
