Little hero, big save: 9-year-old rescues his own fatherFlorida has once again become the epicenter of a story only 2020 could deliver. A 9-year-old boy is being hailed as a hero for swimming his father to safety after the man injured his neck in a freak diving accident. Asaih Williams has long prepared himself for an emergency by keeping a backup plan in case someone he swims with fails to come out of the water. And when his father was unable to surface following his dive, Asaih summoned all of the strength in his body to carry him to shore despite the 100-pound difference between the two of them. Thanks to Asaih’s quick action, his father’s neck injury was not life-altering. He may still need physical therapy for his arms, but he’s able to fully walk without the need for a wheelchair. It seems like the kids are alright after all. Asaih’s father was injured by diving in shallow waters, but is deep-diving really much safer?
