A backpacker wearing the Outdoor Research Helium Jacket

Hi Friends!

The CleverHiker team has been hard at work making some big updates to our Gear Guides. After a summer full of getting outside, adventuring, and product testing, we’ve got a ton of new gear to dish about and some new insights on old favorites.

Speaking of getting outside, staff writer Casey is back out on the Colorado Trail doing some more gear testing and soaking in the beauty of the San Juans. Check out our Colorado Trail Trip Guide to help plan your own adventure on the CT. Then head over to our blog where we have reviews of the gear she’s been trail-testing including: the Zpacks Vertice Jacket, Katadyn Micropur Water Purification Tablets, Zpacks Classic Sleeping Bag, and more!

As always, thanks for following along. Be sure to stop by our social media to say hello!

GEAR PICK OF THE WEEK

Fizan Compact 3 Trekking Poles

The Fizan Compact 3s are giving our top pick from our Best Trekking Poles list, the Gossamer Gear LT5s, a good run for their money. The C3s cost a fraction of the price, have a wider range of usable lengths, and weigh barely half an ounce more for the pair.

We put the C3s to the test on the 500 mile Colorado Trail, and we can confidently say that these ultralight poles are strong and flexible, comfortable to hold during long days on trail, and barely noticeable when stashed away in your pack.

Check out our full review of the Fizan Compact 3s to learn more about why we love them.
