US House FAA proposal to focus on funding, not ATC reform

House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee leadership introduced a five-year FAA reauthorization bill April 13—a bipartisan proposal that leaves efforts to reform the air traffic control system behind, focusing instead on stabilizing the agency with consistent funding.

City officials back Boutique Air bid for Prescott airport air services

A bid from San Francisco-based Boutique Air has been endorsed by Prescott, Arizona city officials to replace air services lost at Prescott Municipal Airport (PRC) when Cheyenne, Wyoming regional Great Lakes Airlines abruptly ceased operations last month.


Rolls-Royce warns 787 operators of more Trent 1000 engine checks

Rolls-Royce has warned airlines that additional checks of its Trent 1000 engine powering the Boeing 787 will be needed to resolve ongoing issues with the engine’s compressor.

Lessor Avolon’s fleet up 6.2% in 2018 first quarter

Irish lessor Avolon closed out the first quarter of 2018 with an owned and managed fleet comprising 570 aircraft, with commitments for a further 333 aircraft, bringing its total fleet to 903, up 6.2% from 1Q 2017.


Russia’s Simferopol Airport set to open new terminal April 16

Simferopol International Airport in Crimea will open a new terminal April 16, which will be able to handle 3,650 passengers per hour or 6.5 million per year.
