Five US politicians have written to Google chief executive Sundar Pichai, urging him to cut ties to the Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei Technologies, and pointing out that while Google is unwilling to help the US military, it is apparently willing to co-operate with the Chinese Communist Party.

Both Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella and president Brad Smith have responded to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement separating migrant children from their parents at the Mexico-US border by issuing strong statements against the practice.

The Communications Workers Union has described Telstra's decision to cut the jobs of 8000 employees and contractors by 2022 as "putting short-term profits above long-term services for the Australian community".
