USC ransomware attack removed personal data

The University of South Carolina said the attack on an outside vendor, discovered in May, may have led to the removal of data including names, contact information, birthdates, demographic information and charitable history.

Unemployment claims reach new low; assistance approved

South Carolina reached a new low in weekly unemployment claims filed since mid-March, becoming the state with fifth strongest recovery in terms of weekly claims, according to a recent study. S.C.'s application for a federal assistance program was also approved.

S.C. victims services groups to receive $37 million

The funding, 98% of which comes from federal grants, will be distributed to nonprofits, sheriff’s offices, police departments, solicitor’s offices and state agencies next month. Among the recipients are sheriff's departments in Richland and Lexington counties.

Event aimed at building diverse business relationships

The online event, hosted by the Richland County Office of Small Business Opportunity, will be held Thursday. A panel including area business leaders will discuss how to increase inclusion and opportunity to strengthen commerce.

DICK's Sporting Goods opening new Myrtle Beach location

A DICK’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy Store will open at Coastal Grand Mall this month. The two-day grand opening, set for Sept. 18-20, will feature promotional giveaways. The store is one of three planned new DICK’s locations. 

Family medicine practice receives grant to fight cancer

AnMed Health Williamston Family Medicine received a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help increase colorectal cancer screening rates. The $60,000 grant will be spread across five years.
