USDA Is Now Sending Out $500 Million to Fight High Fertilizer Prices in the U.S.
 
USDA wants to boost domestic fertilizer production to lower the prices farmers pay. To do so, the agency is offering grants of $1 million to $100 million to independent fertilizer producers. While the short-term price issues are causing concern for farmers today, economists say moving production domestically will take time.
