App tells users if they might have the flu

Evidation's FluSmart app uses data from weekly symptom questionnaires and, optionally, wearable health devices and activity trackers to calculate the likelihood that the user has the flu, and 90,000 people are already enrolled, says co-founder and CEO Christine Lemke. The app alerts the user if changes in activity or symptoms indicate flu or COVID-19 and suggests resources, and Lemke says it could be used by health care providers to improve screening, generate awareness of available interventions, recruit for clinical trials or send targeted messages about self-care.
