| | | Edition 33 | 2024 | | Dear John Do, | | A total of 1.6 million tonnes of decommissioned weapons including bombs lie on the bottom of the Baltic and North Seas making their removal a race against time. Metal shells and casings of bombs and cartridges corrode and release explosives threatening the environment as well as health and safety. A new pilot project is now using underwater robots in the Bay of Lübeck to clear all these weapons. Hamburg News gives you more insight into this project. In other news, we highlight Hamburg’s remote working performance, the University of Hamburg presents new findings on climate change and we preview the Hamburg Innovation Summit in September Click on our Hamburg News site to read more daily economic reports from the Hamburg Metropolitan Region in both German and English.
