Situational Analysis | Nov. 8, 2024 It's Friday and National STEM/STEAM Day. What you need to know - Leadership elections for the Utah House and Senate were held last night. In the House, the team remains unchanged, with Speaker Mike Schulz, Majority Leader Jefferson Moss, Majority Whip Karianne Lisonbee, and Majority Assistant Whip Casey Snider at the top. In the Senate, 75% of the leadership team turned over. President Stuart Adams kept his spot, the Kirk Cullimore defeated Evan Vickers for Majority Leader, Chris Wilson took Ann Millner's spot as Majority Whip and Mike McKell is now the Assistant Majority Whip.

USBE names Elisse Newey as Deputy Superintendent of Policy The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is pleased to announce that Elisse Newey has been named as its deputy superintendent of policy. Deputy Newey replaces Angela Stallings, the former deputy superintendent of policy, who stepped down in October to accept a position with the Utah System of Higher Education. UVU announces new Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute Utah Valley University (UVU) President, Astrid S. Tuminez, announced the universityâs new Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute today at the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, Growth & Prosperity Summit on the Orem Campus, establishing UVU as a living laboratory and model for AI in higher education. In addition, Tuminez announced UVUâs new Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence degree that will be available to students in the fall of 2025.
