TICK TOCKMail-in ballots start to be sent out today (10/13/2020) Today At Utah Policy On the Nov. 3 ballot: What to know about Amendment GBy Staff In a few short weeks citizens across the state will go to the polls to vote their consciences. In addition to selecting their favorite candidates, Utah voters will also have the opportunity to answer this ballot question:Shall the Utah Constitution be amended to expand the uses of money the state receives from income taxes and intangible property taxes to include supporting children and supporting people with a disability?This is Constitutional Amendment G, and if the majority of voters say "Yes" it will expand the allowable uses of monies the state receives from income taxes or from a tax on intangible property in order to support two populaces: children, and people with disabilities. The state does not currently tax intangible property, which includes property such as stocks, bonds, patents, and copyrights.  Webb's Wrap: Lee at SCOTUS confirmation hearings . . . wild turkey problemBy LaVarr Webb Sen. Mike Lee got the spotlight Monday in the Amy Coney Barrett confirmation hearings, not necessarily because his opening statement (view it HERE) was brilliant (I thought it was very good), but because he didn't wear a mask 11 days after testing positive for COVID-19. The news media and social media erupted with outraged comments and stories about the maskless Lee.  4th District debate didn't change the raceBy LaVarr Webb Democratic Congressman Ben McAdams clearly won the 4th District debate Monday evening, at least on points. He was smoother and much more on the attack than his Republican opponent Burgess Owens. I don't have any recent polling numbers on the race, but the fact that McAdams felt the need to attack as aggressively as he did indicates that the race is close. That's surprising, given the fact that McAdams has dramatically more money to spend than Owens, and enjoys far greater visibility and name ID. Utah HeadlinesDeseret News

Lee's alleged expertise has long been the only line on his one-note resume, and so as the Trump campaign sinks below the waves, Lee's return to dodgy constitutional analysis forms his lifeboat.
