By LaVarr Webb
Congressman John Curtis won't be found often - if ever - on Fox News. He's moderately conservative, but is no partisan firebrand. He's one of the good guys in Congress. He tries to solve problems, not posture for the media. He co-sponsors a lot of legislation with Democrats, although they aren't usually major bills. He's well liked on both sides of the aisle. He works hard and travels his district, meeting with local officials and constituents.

By LaVarr Webb
I'm sure there have been some really nice debates in Utah political history. But Thursday evenings's 1st Congressional District debate between Blake Moore and Darren Parry was one of the friendliest debates I've ever seen. As it went on, I kind of enjoyed it, once I shed my cynical political observer mode. It was actually refreshing watching two really sincere, if very inexperienced, guys talk nicely to each other. It certainly wasn't a reflection of today's nasty politics.

By Press Release

Ahead of Ambassador O'Brien's visit, Hatch Foundation Chairman Emeritus Orrin Hatch and Executive Director Matt Sandgren issued the following statements:
United Utah Party opposes Constitutional Amendment G
The United Utah Party has announced its opposition to the proposed amendment numbered G on the general election ballot. The amendment would allow the legislature to use income tax revenue for two other purposes than public education - children and people with disabilities. Currently, the state constitution mandates that all income tax revenues be used for public education.
Romney pushes bill to prevent layoffs of airline workers
WASHINGTON-U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) joined senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Susan Collins (R-ME) in introducing the Air Carrier Worker Support Extension Act of 2020 to extend the airline worker Payroll Support Program (PSP) through March 2021. Without this critical assistance, airlines may be forced to lay off or furlough tens of thousands of workers. Mass layoffs could impact operations at the newly renovated Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), which served more than 26 million passengers last year alone.

Lighter Side

Court of Less Appeal

Justice isn't just blind-it's snickering at these real courtroom give-and-takes:

Judge (to young witness): Do you know what would happen to you if you told a lie?
Witness: Yes. I would go to hell.
Judge: Is that all?
Witness: Isn't that enough?

Q: Isn't it a fact that you have been running around with another woman?
A: Yes, it is, but you can't prove it!

Q: Have you ever heard about taking the Fifth?
A: A fifth of wine?
Q: No, the Fifth Amendment.

Q: What did your sister die of?
