Utah ranks No. 1 in U.S. for economic outlook for 15th year in a row
"With interest rates rising, with inflation on the horizon, this speaks very well for Utah’s future. And even with some of those issues, our future is bright," said Utah Senate President Stuart Adams. "It’s been bright in the past, and it’s equally as bright right now."
Arizona outranked Utah in economic performance, which is "backward-looking," compared to the forward-looking measure of economic outlook.
"Arizona did something I’d like to do (here in Utah)," Adams said, pointing specifically to the Arizona Legislature’s move last year to cut the income tax rate for most of the state’s taxpayers down to about 2.5%, depending on income levels.
Former President Donald Trump endorsed Sen. Mike Lee several weeks ago, but Lee's campaign has yet to mention it in fundraising emails or political ads.
Chris Karpowitz, co-director of the Center for the Study of Elections and Democracy at Brigham Young University, said Trump’s endorsement might both help and hurt Lee.

What Lee believes about the 2020 election. Trump’s false claims about election fraud in 2020 have been a source of disagreement between Trump and Lee, Karpowitz said. "This is clearly a campaign issue his opponents want to raise, and the endorsement brings those questions front and center."
How Republicans feel about Lee. Lee has stayed "very, very strong" with the segment of the GOP that says they’re going to vote and do show up to vote, said Jason Perry, director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah. "That isn’t likely to change, even in light of the stories that have come out recently."
