New poll reveals what Utahns think about Biden’s student loan forgiveness
Utah is the state with the lowest average student debt and proportion of students with debt, so it begs the question, "for those Utahns that do have student debt, how do they feel about loan forgiveness?"
The Biden administration’s forgiveness plan will relieve $10,000 of federal student loan debt for borrowers who are earning less than $125,000 and up to $20,000 for those who went to college on Pell grants.
A new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll regarding President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan reflects how some citizens of the beehive state feel about the program, and it's not an overall positive reaction — though not necessarily overall negative, either.
The poll surveyed 815 registered Utah voters last month and more than half of respondents said they disagree with the plan.

As the senate campaign heats up in Utah, people are looking to cast their vote based on their candidate's stances on various issues, chief among them the economy.
A Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll asked voters to pick the issues that would influence their choice of candidate. Out of nine options, economy polled the highest, followed by views on the role of the federal government.
This poll comes as voters are increasingly divided and our economy hurtles towards a recession.
